Resurrection Life
Is your life marked by the resurrection life of Jesus? Have you experienced Jesus’ resurrection life and power in your own life? Do you marvel at what has happened concerning the resurrection of Jesus?
The resurrection of Jesus changes everything. The resurrection life of Jesus is astounding and has marvelous and wonderful implications for our lives and for this broken world.
Luke’s Gospel account tells us, “On the first day of the week, at early dawn, they went to the tomb, taking the spices they had prepared. And they found the stone rolled away from the tomb, but when they went in they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus.” (Luke 24:1-3, ESV).
Jesus defeated death by dying on a cross for us and rising from the dead, rising from the grave, on the third day, thereby defeating death and giving life to all who receive Jesus.
When Peter heard of the resurrection of Jesus, along with the others, “Peter rose and ran to the tomb; stooping and looking in, he saw the linen cloths by themselves; and he went home marveling at what had happened.” (Luke 24:12, ESV).
Like Peter, we should explore and experience the resurrection of Jesus for ourselves, and we should marvel at what has happened at the resurrection for ourselves. The resurrection of Jesus is for each of us individually and should impact each of us personally.
May we experience and encounter the marvel and wonders of the resurrection life of Jesus Christ for ourselves this Easter and be a resurrection people for all our lives.
A Collect for Easter Day: “Almighty God, who through your only-begotten Son Jesus Christ overcame death and opened to us the gate of everlasting life: Grant that we, who celebrate with joy the day of the Lord's resurrection, may, by your life-giving Spirit, be delivered from sin and raised from death; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.” (Book of Common Prayer, 2019).
