Rain on Tin Roof

The rain rattles the tin roof

in raindrops tapping

and tapping and tapping

in pitter-patter splattering

one drop after another

in rapid succession

rattling in steady progression

upon the flat tin roof

of the cabin’s back porch

setting a steady rhythm

for the day’s digression.
