The Cross in the Wood

The Cross in the Wood

The cross in the wood

stood taller than the trees

twisting upward to eternity

rising from the forest floor beneath the canopy

drawing every soul — bending every knee

the cross in the wood

bent and mangled as it should

splintered among tall stands of trees

humbled as it should be

bridging earth and eternity

the cross and its wood

bent beneath canopy and bended knee

the cross in the wood in serenity

offering salvation for those who see
