Are you working in God’s vineyard? Do you know that you are a steward and tenant in God’s vineyard? Are you giving God, the vineyard owner, the fruit that he is expecting from you?
God compares this world and his kingdom to a vineyard. We are called to be faithful workers in God’s vineyard and to give God the fruit that he is asking for and the fruit that is due to him as the vineyard owner.
We are stewards who are working in God’s vineyard to produce fruit for God.
Jesus spoke of this in the Parable of the Tenants in Matthew’s gospel account saying, “Hear another parable. There was a master of a house who planted a vineyard and put a fence around it and dug a winepress in it and built a tower and leased it to tenants, and went into another country. When the season for fruit drew near, he sent his servants to the tenants to get his fruit.” (Matthew 21:33-34, ESV).
This world is God’s vineyard and we are his tenants who are to produce God’s kingdom fruit, which God expects from us. We are stewards and tenants working God’s land to produce fruit for God.
May we be faithful stewards and tenants in this world, producing the kingdom fruit God expects from us as the vineyard owner.
A Collect for the Nineteenth Sunday after Pentecost, or the Eighteenth Sunday after Trinity (Proper 22): “Keep, O Lord, your household the Church in continual godliness, that through your protection it may be free from all adversities, and devoutly serve you in good works, to the glory of your Name; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.” (Book of Common Prayer, 2019).
