Blood Red

blood red sky at sunset

—clouds in blood red

reflecting like bloodshed

the sky upon the pond

bridging the waters

with the blood red sky beyond.

“Thus says the Lord, ‘By this you shall know that I am the Lord: behold, with the staff that is in my hand I will strike the water that is in the Nile, and it shall turn into blood.’” (Exodus 7:17, ESV).

In evening’s final glow

we sit and watch

the day’s end

and the light show—

resting in the evening’s end

we hope for the new day

our time to begin again.

dot the ridge-line in three

silhouetted in the sunset

and swaying in the summer breeze.
